Michael Taskey

Multumedia artist and designer

Michael  makes sculptures primarily out of wood but uses other mediums. Art has always been a part of his life but was put on hold when he and his wife Judy had children. Then he became a stay-at-home Dad. Michael rediscovered his passion for art while running the Art Docent program at his children's elementary school in Washington State.

Using both power tools and hand tools he transforms wood, metal, plastic, and other solids into sculptural pieces. His pieces are inspired by the natural world and local histories. He feels the need to connect or anchor himself to his community and he attempts this with his art. While his pieces are planned out carefully he is not afraid to follow the tangents that inevitably appear.
